Praying for Breakthrough
Belgium: Pray for an upcoming special short-term trip traveling to Belgium and Latvia next month from Avalon Missionary Church. In this Ministry Lab, the team will embed with WP disciple-makers and learn how they relationally connect with people and invite them to follow Jesus. Pray for traveling mercies and for the team to learn things from these missionaries they can imitate and put into practice back home where they live.
Mongolia: Pray for 3 Bethel University students currently serving as interns until July 2. Pray that they can connect with Mongolians as they teach English and do physical therapy.
Russia: Pray for a World Partners Affiliate partner, Tsegmed, as he is on his way with others to attend the Disciple Making Movement (DMM) leaders' meeting in Kyzyl, (southern) Russia. During this 3-day gathering, key believers will come together to pray for their next moves to reach unreached Mongolian-based ethnic groups in the region.
United States: Pray for WP missionary Shaun Futch and family as he helps his mother enter hospice care this week.
Greece: Pray for Amy and Nathan Moser as they disciple men and women who are new believers in Christ and fuel their hunger to learn more about Him.
Spain: The Bumpus family sponsored their annual motorcycle community event recently with over 250 people and 120 bikes. The Gospel was shared, and people were grateful and receptive.
US and Cyprus: New baptisms have been reported by prospective WP missionaries who have discipled others as well as a seasoned partner in Cyprus. Praise the Lord!
Bhutan: One of our partners in Bhutan was recently able to meet with and encourage pastors who serve in a difficult area. Pray these freshly encouraged pastors would be strengthened to be faithful and that Jesus would bear much fruit in and through them.

"I’m so grateful for our church’s heart for sharing the whole gospel with the whole person...across the whole world. Yes, we long to see people made right with God by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus alone! But because God is so awesome, and the gospel is so amazing...we want to see the gospel and all of its implications permeate every nook-and-cranny of a person’s life, a community’s life, and a nation’s life. We have a heart to see people get as much of a taste as possible in the here-and-now of everything that will be ours someday in heaven! In some ways, missions is as simple as “show and tell Jesus” – we want acts of service to be accompanied with the message of repentance and forgiveness, and we want our words to be backed by loving, caring actions of service. In short, I’m grateful for our church’s “all of the above” heart as it comes to making Jesus known!
Somewhat-connected with that...our church has a heart for relationships that are longer-term, and deeper-reaching. We’d actually prefer to have relationships/partnerships with fewer missionaries, if it means we can go deeper with them as the years go by. Some of my/our favorite missionary visits have been those when we feel like we’ve already got a handle on what’s been happening in their ministries on the field...and while it’s not like we don’t ever “talk shop” with our missionaries, we’re thankful when our missionaries come and visit and it’s like catching up with friends that we haven’t seen in awhile...the adults talk and laugh together, their kids talk and laugh and play with our kids...and when the missionary faces challenges in their ministry or their family life or anything else, we want to do as much as we can to go the extra mile and support them however possible.
We recognize that the world is changing quickly, and along with it the world of missions is changing quickly too...and I’m grateful for the fact that we’re willing to change structures/approaches of doing ministry WHILE holding tightly to the unchanging message of truth that’s found only in Jesus. The lines between global missions and local missions are becoming increasingly blurry; we’re able to make more progress for the Kingdom by investing in indigenous ministry workers who can, in turn, make the gospel known to their own people; basically anything and everything of our gifts and talents and experiences (and even our weaknesses and scars!) can be used as tools in the Lord’s hands for building bridges into people’s lives...for as challenging of a time as this is, in many ways...this is also an incredibly-exciting time to live and serve!! And I believe that our church has a heart to be involved in Great Commission work/service/living...the challenge becomes on our end as leaders to be found faithful to equip people, and to turn them loose to be everyday missionaries...whether that’s across the street, or across the world...."
